ThermoForm Bleaching Trays Usage Instructions

1.
You must form your mouthpieces in order to achieve the best results from the Thermoform Whitening Kits. This is a very simple process of heating the mouthpiece in hot water so that it becomes soft and moldable.

2. Bring a pot of water to boil, and then turn heat to medium.  Submerge your mouthpiece while holding by its specially designed holding-tab into the hot water for 4-5 seconds. You will see the mouthpiece begin to wilt meaning that the mouthpiece is now soft.
NOTE - Keeping the mouthpiece submerged too long will cause it to shrink and stick together.

3. Remove mouthpiece from water and place the mouthpiece over your teeth immediately (either upper or lower) sucking the mouthpiece inwards, while pressing it against the front of your teeth with your fingers and the back of your teeth with your tongue. Let it cool and your mouthpiece is now perfectly molded to your teeth.
NOTE
- You will only need to conduct the boil-n-bite procedure once for each mouthpiece, not each time you conduct your whitening session.

4. When the mouthpiece has cooled, test the fit and repeat the above process if you need to adjust the shape of the mouthpiece.  When the molding process is completed, cut the holding-tabs off of the mouthpieces so that you can close your mouth completely when the mouthpieces are in your mouth.

5. In order to keep the Gel off your gums, just above the teeth marks that have formed on your mouthpiece, cut off any excess molding.   Be very careful to not cut into the actual teeth marks.

6. Repeat these steps for both upper and lower teeth.

7. After EVERY treatment clean the inside of the trays gently with a toothbrush in COLD water.   The trays are now ready for your next whitening treatment.  Store the trays and whitening gel in a dark, cool, dry place when not in use.

8. The best way to whiten your teeth is gradually. Don’t knock yourself out by wearing your mouthpieces for hours at a time and trying to force your whitening process quickly. It took years to build up the staining on your teeth. It’s perfectly all right to take several weeks to remove the staining. You will not loose any whitening effect by waiting several days between treatments. Some people can see significant whitening results after the first application and others may take several hours of bleaching to see results.

Warning: Do not use: if pregnant or breast-feeding; with loose veneers, bridgework or loose crowns; or with loose or decayed teeth or are suffering from periodontal disease.  If irritation (such as redness, swelling, soreness) of the gums or the mouth occurs, discontinue use and consult a dentist.  Products containing peroxides are not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age.  Use for periods of longer than 14 days is to be under supervision of a dentist.  Avoid swallowing the tooth whitening gel or part thereof.  Avoid contact of the product with the eye.  Avoid direct contact of the active surface of the tooth-whitening product with the gums and/or salivary flow.  Dental Whitening Gel should be refrigerated for long-term storage.  Shelf life is 18 months unrefrigerated and 3 years if refrigerated.  Bleaching Gel will only whiten natural teeth. It will not whiten nor harm caps, crowns, bridges, fillings or any other artificial dental work.

Instructions for Whitening Gel & Remineralising Gel

1. Brush your teeth immediately before each application to remove any large food particles from your teeth so that the whitening gel can contact your teeth.  Next remove the plastic cap from the syringe.  Take out your mouthpieces and make sure that they are clean and dry before applying whitening gel into them.
NOTE - Moisture reduces the efficiency of the whitening gel and slows down the whitening process.

2. Spread a THIN layer (about 1/3cc) of gel around the inside, FRONT of the mouthpiece. There is no need for the whitening gel to come in contact with the backside of your teeth at this point since they are not visible to others.  Position the bleaching tray over your teeth and press gently so that the whitening gel covers the entire front surface of your teeth.  You may see the gel “bubbling” within your trays while wearing them, this is actually part of the whitening process.

3. Remove any excess gel - outside of the trays - with a Q-Tip or your finger and discard this overflow gel by spitting it out. If you notice your gums whitening, this is temporary and should last only 5 to 10 minutes.
This is a sign you are using too much gel, so you should use a little less gel next time.

4. When whitening with the STEP 1 gel, wear the trays, once per day, for at least 10 minutes, but no longer than 20 minutes.  With the STEP 2 gel, wear the trays for at least 15 minutes, but no longer then 30 minutes. Once the whitening is complete, remove the trays and rinse excess gel from your teeth and gums.  To prevent both tooth and gum discomfort, use the Step 1 Gel prior to using the Step 2 Gel.

5. On average, it takes approximately 5-10 bleaching treatments to get desired results. Depending on the depth of color within your teeth and the whiteness you desire it may take longer. You decide how quickly to proceed according to your convenience, needs and schedule. We recommend a 1 to 2 week rest after you complete 10 treatments. The color will stabilize during this time. Then you may continue with any additional treatments.

6. Some mild sensitivity may occur.  If you experience more severe sensitivity, wait 24 hours before resuming bleaching treatments.  Refrain from eating, drinking, or smoking for 30 minutes after wearing the whitening gel. Also avoid citrus foods and beverages to minimize discomfort from sensitivity for approximately 30 minutes

7.Your new bright smile will last 2 – 3 years.  However, if ever you feel your teeth are darkening, just touch them up with a treatment and it will bring back the beautiful whiteness that has made you so proud of your teeth.
Every time you use your dental bleaching system you will inevitably swallow a small amount of whitening gel.  This is normal and except for the taste, there are no hazards in swallowing small amounts of gel. If you (or especially a child) swallows more whitening gel than used for one dental whitening treatment (.5ml - 3ml), you may or may not experience any side-effects, but it would be wise to contact a medical professional or Center for Poison Control to be on the safe side. Please keep the whitening gel out of reach of children.

For Remineralising/Desensitizing Gel ONLY.  Apply a thin bead of gel along the inside surface of the bleaching trays.  Treatment should be done for 20 minutes per session, once a day.  For best results apply before bed to provide a thorough remineralisation.  After removing the trays, use a toothbrush to remove the gel from teeth.  Treatments should be done for 4-7 days, or as recommended by a dentist.
PLEASE NOTE – Sensitive teeth may indicate a serious problem that may need prompt care by a dentist.  See your dentist if the problem persists or worsens after using the gel.
